Intro to Why I'm doing this
There have been too many times in this business that something, crazy, silly and downright hilarious has happened to me. I know that with the growing popularity of HGTV the public salaviates over Real Estate; Designing on a Dime, Curb Applealing their home etc. But I thought, why not write about the quirky side? Well, this will either go over well, or become a disaster...it'll be a fine line, that's for sure. Case in point, my showings with a buyer yesterday. My buyer wanted to see a home in Glendale, that I can only assume the home we looked at is inhabitited by a single male. There was "Biker Babes" calendar on the refrigerator and his decor in the family room consisted of 2 stuffed ducks, multiple dear heads and a boar head. Not to mention there were samuri swords all over the place. Anyway, as my buyer and I walked into the family room I was pointing out the nice layout of the home, but before I could mention the breakfast bar...I bumped into something with my back. As I walked forward to turn around the giant boars head lurched towards me and landed smack on the ground. I stood there, like a deer in headlights looking at my buyer. I believe I finally muttered "Oh MY GOD...NO WAY!!!!!" When I turned around the boar head and a sword were laying next to me. My buyer and I spent the next 10 minutes trying to mount the boar's head back to the wall. This was the first time out with her, but luckily enough she is a cool chick with a sense of humor...I'll be meeting with her again this weekend! In a similar story, a few weeks ago I was touring a home with a different buyer of mine in Whitefish Bay. It was a cute tudor on a great street.
